Arikok National Park, Aruba, December 2010, 2 p.m.ish
The East Coast of Aruba is almost completely national park. The wild sea bashes against remnants of prehistoric coral reef, leaving jagged black skeletons stuttering along the shore. Caves carved out of limestone are home to legions of bats that stream from secret exits at sundown. And then there’s the surprise wind farm in the midst of it all, which supplies (I hear) about 20% of the country’s electricity.
